Data centre protection against water contamination with Diesel Defence

One of our regular customers, a national generator supplier, put forward a project on behalf of their client, a well known international bank located in Central London. The client, who already purchased generators from the supplier, knew their facility would fail without power. They stressed they could not afford poor quality fuel or a back-up generator failure, and especially wanted to reduce the cost of removing, disposing and replacing contaminated fuel. Therefore the client asked the generator supplier to install a system designed to maintain optimum fuel quality with each of their generators.

A Turkish bank data centre are delighted with the vast improvement in their fuel quality as a result of installing a WASP Fuel Polishing System.

Following a routine fuel test by WASP, County Hospital Stafford became aware of a problem lurking in the fuel tanks. The results showed that the stored diesel was heavily contaminated with water and asphaltene (hard, brittle particles that can agglomerate). If left this could have blocked engine filters, damaged fuel injectors or caused total generator failure. The team at County Hospital knew they had to act fast as the consequences of a total blackout would be catastrophic.

WASP were contacted by Puma Power Projects who were maintaining the gensets at Kent & Canterbury hospital. They had become concerned about the quality of fuel being used to power the generators and so requested a WASP Portable Contamination fuel test. The results showed that the diesel in each of the tanks was heavily contaminated.
